“I always wondered if joining a poker team was for me, since I was already a winner and already had a good income through cash game.” This line was spoken by Gabriel “Meteor” Kings during the First Team General Meeting in January, after he was one of the leaderboard system winners and made moves up to the Tier Elite.
Gabriel met Saulo and Zinhão at a poker school and decided to accompany them on social networks and consume the content produced by them even without knowing them personally, because he found the classes, they taught very different.
Then Saulo and Zinhão created Metagame, at the time BrPC, and the team aroused Gabriel’s interest, but he was still not sure whether a poker team was the ideal place for him.
“Whenever I played against a player, I knew was on the team I realized that the results and the player himself were differentiated and above average. It aroused curiosity, but I thought I would be able to develop myself, after all I had already managed to grow from NL2 to nl500, why couldn’t I keep doing it? That was my thought,” Gabriel said.
In 2022 the player bought Zinhão’s Cash Game course for Reg Life and that’s how everything changed.
“With the course I understood why I didn’t have the results I wanted to have and why I always thought the results and metagame players were above average. I felt that probably I had already reached my maximum development alone and that to realize my goal and dream of being a HighStakes winning player I needed to do different things. So, I decided to apply to Metagame,” he said.
In November 2022 Gabriel reached Tier 1 of the first team and, according to him, his first impression was that he really was in a high-performance environment and alongside the best players in Brazil and the world, which gave him even more desire to develop as a player within the team. At the same time, he also felt a little anxious when he saw how much content he needed to study and absorb.
Two months later, in January, he managed to make over $26k, was one of the Tier 1 Leaderboard and made moves up to the Tier Elite, which was one of his early goals. “I wanted to get up as fast as I could to Tier Elite, as I got into Metagame to be a winning player in the HighStakes,” the player said. But even so, Gabriel didn’t expect this move up so fast. “I thought it would take about six months.”
The player attributes his rapid rise in limits to some factors: the fact that he joined the team already as a winner of the 500NL, access to content and classes that helped him to study exactly what it took for him to evolve in the game and psychological follow-up with Luiz Scipião, psychologist at Metagame, who, according to Gabriel, is helping him become a better person and professional.
